Department Overview

The Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program and Doernbecher Infusion Center is a regional referral program for children with cancers, blood disorders and those needing bone marrow transplant or other stem cell therapies such as CAR-T therapy.  The Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program also participates in clinical trials through many national consortia and the Doernbecher Infusion Center supports these trials as well as new therapies for children in other pediatric specialties.  We provide expert nursing care to any infant, child, adolescent or young adult who presents with these conditions.

Here are some reasons to be excited about the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic and Doernbecher Infusion Center at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital:

  • OHSU is a Magnet designated hospital.
  • The Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program participates in clinical trials and innovative research through several consortia including:  The Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia and Lymphoma (TACL), Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortia (PNOC).  The program also participates in a number of industry sponsored trials.
  • The Pediatric Oncology Program and Doernbecher Infusion Center are currently working to provide Naxitamab, a newly approved immunotherapy for neuroblastoma patients with relapsed or refractory disease and will be one of only a few centers on  the west coast to offer this therapy.
  • The Pediatric Hematology Oncology Program partners with the OHSU Hemophilia Program, one of 12 federally funded regional centers nationwide to support clinical care and new clinical research trials.
  • The Doernbecher Infusion Center supports the Pediatric Oncology Program as well as several other pediatric sub-specialties to provide clinical care and offer access to therapies and clinical trials, examples include new therapies for diabetes, spinal muscular atrophy and other genetic disorders.
  • There are many exciting opportunities to expand access to the Doernbecher Infusion Center and we added an APP (advanced practice provider) team to staff the Doernbecher Infusion Center and support this growth in fall 2022.
  • We have 10 infusion bays, 8 clinic exam rooms, 2 procedure rooms and 2 isolation rooms. Our size allows for close working relationships with the clinical team, and with patients and their families.

This is a day shift only position- evening or weekend work would be rare and in emergency situations only
