Department Overview

The PIMC provides Intermediate level care for Medical/Surgical patients 0-18 years of age, excluding obstetric patients. Populations served include non-ICU Neurosurgical, Video EEG and spectrum scan Peritoneal Dialysis, Chronic trach/ventilated patients, Select Hyperbilirubinemia, Select Cardiac Surgery, and Research Patients, complex post –op patients including orthopedic spine patients, crani’s, and bladder augmentations.

Function/Duties of Position

Up to $12,000 Hiring Bonus and Relocation Package Available. Must begin work by July 1, 2024 to qualify.

 

BSN rates $49.16-$78.18 per hour, based on education and experience. ADN and MSN rates also available.

 

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach, carry, push, pull and walk throughout the work period. Able to lift 35 lbs independently. Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients, including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel.
  • Must be able to use all senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and speaking. Reasonable accommodations include corrective lenses and/or hearing aids
    • The work environment carries risk of exposure to human tissue/fluids and radiation.
    • Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal and external customers, including making correct judgments regarding ensuring safe conditions for patients, families, and other personnel.
    • Use of all hospital approved clinical equipment.  Significant use of computers, copiers, multi-line phones, and fax.

Required Qualifications

    • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date. 
    • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.   
    • Associate Degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire 
    • Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred 
    • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License 
    • BLS and PALS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application) 
    • BLS and PALS must not expire during orientation  
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred 
  • Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN)

Usual Orientation Time:   

  • New Grads – 10 to 12 weeks
