The TTP Specialty Fellowship program is designed for RN's with 2 or more years of experience AND the Residency program is for nursing students or RNs with less than 2 years experience.

  • This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).
  • We are hiring multiple positions. The positions will be distributed based on the current amount of knowledge and skills of the other nurses in the unit/departments.
  • FTE: 0.9, Full Time
  • Shift: Nightshift
  • Shift Length: 12 Hours
  • Start and Stop Times: Variable, 1300-0130, 1500-0330 or 1900-0730 depending on department needs.
  • Weekend Obligation: Every other weekend
  • Call Obligation: None
  • Floating Obligation: Refer to Department Specific Addendum
  • Salary: Hourly rate based on ONA contract
  • Leave: Successful completion of the TTP program necessitates attendance during all learning activities.
    • External Candidates: Vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests up to 18-weeks from the start date are not permitted. All other vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU.
    • Internal ONA Candidates: All vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU. Pre-scheduled vacations or leave plans must be disclosed prior to consideration for hire to determine the start date

Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. Required Qualifications

Minimum requirements for all Nurses:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing for external hires; Baccalaureate degree preferred to internal candidates.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing awarded from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) by 30 days before the start date.
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before the start date.
  • Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.

Department Specific Requirements:

  • TTP Residency Program:
    • Completion of 180 clinical hours of direct-patient care in an inpatient care area, 90 clinical hours of direct-patient care in an emergency department within 12-months of the current cohort start date preferred.
    • TNCC required within 6 months of hire
    • BLS must not expire during the TTP Program.Existing OHSU workforce members are not required to have ACLS or PALS before the start date per policy HC-HR-111-POL-RR.Current ACLS and PALS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date. 
      • BLS, ACLS and PALS must not expire during the TTP Program.

    • A minimum score of 11/18 on OHSU Nurse Interview Evaluation Tool.

  • TTP Specialty Fellowship Program:

    • 2-years of current nursing experience in adult acute care, adult intermediate care, adult perianesthesia care unit, or emergency department observation.

    • TNCC required within 6 months of hire
    • Current ACLS and PALS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.

      • Existing OHSU workforce members are not required to have ACLS or PALS before the start date per policy HC-HR-111-POL-RR
      • BLS, ACLS and PALS must not expire during the TTP Program.
      • A minimum score of 11/18 on OHSU Nurse Interview Evaluation Tool. 

 

Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Individualized Orientation Schedule of 12-20 weeks:

  • The intended start date is July 22, 2024 (external & organizational internal transfer)/July 29, 2024  (ONA internal transfer). Please note that this date may be adjusted based on operational needs.
  • Group-based, self-directed, and preceptorship hours are integrated weekly for up to 40 hours per week. The learning environments are a mix of in-person and teleworking.
    • Preceptorship hours: Assigned based on preceptor team schedules during Monday-Sunday 0700-1930, or 1900-0730. Transition to hired shift is based on unit readiness and the completion of group-based sessions.
    • Group-based hours: Monday-Friday 0800-1700 (8-hour shifts) or 1500-1900 (4-hour shifts).
    • Self-directed hours: Monday-Sunday all-hours up to 8-hours a week.

Transition to hired shift may be delayed for a temporary reassignment due to individual development needs and skill mix of the employees on the unit or the hires shift at any given time.
