The Registered Nurse working as a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team provides nursing services to patients in all Imaging modalities, including sedation services and pre-, intra, and post-procedure care. Patient populations include ambulatory patients, day patients, inpatients, and patients in off-site locations. DI RNs care for patients who need scans or procedures in Ultrasound, CT, MRI, General Radiology/Fluoroscopy, and PET/CT. Imaging departments are located at OHSU Marquam campus, KPV, PPV, SJH, DCH, CHH, and off-site clinics (currently, Beaverton is our only off-site campus). Hours of operation are seven (7) days a week from 0700-2030. RN-to-patient staffing ratios are variable. Staffing needs are dynamic and may change during or between shifts based on add-on sedation procedures and add-on recoveries from all Imaging modalities. All Intensive Care Unit patients receive care that is compliant with the OHSU Adult Intensive Care Unit standards of care.
Diagnostic Imaging nurses provide total nursing care: No CNAs, LPNs, or HUC coverage is available. The Diagnostic Imaging RN is expected to practice in accordance with the professional practice standards and core values, maintain a current knowledge base relevant to the area of practice and governing agencies, and model a commitment to service excellence. Care is provided to patients of all ages.
Department Specific Working Conditions:
The RN must be able to travel to Diagnostic Imaging department locations via aerial tram and to/from off-site locations (currently the Beaverton Imaging location). Staff cover services in all Diagnostic Imaging locations. The RN is responsible for patient communication regarding pre-, intra, and post-imaging-related care/information.
