The Trauma Coordinator assists the Trauma Program Director (TPD) by assuring that OHSU fulfills all requirements as a Level I Trauma designated center for the State of Oregon and verified by the American College of Surgeons. In collaboration with the TPD, the Trauma Coordinator ensures that the program is meeting the mission of University Hospital.
The Trauma Program provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to caring for injured patients across the continuum of care. The Trauma Program oversees continuous performance improvement. Trauma cases are monitored through the trauma registry and reviewed to evaluate clinical outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure compliance with national standards and best practices. This ongoing assessment supports patient safety, operational excellence, and readiness for trauma center verification every three years.
The Trauma Program also plays a vital role in education and community outreach. In addition, the program promotes injury prevention through community initiatives focused on areas such as fall prevention, motor vehicle safety, violence prevention, and public awareness. Through its commitment to clinical excellence, quality improvement, education, and injury prevention, the Trauma Program serves as an essential resource for delivering high-quality trauma care and improving the health and safety of the communities it serves.
